No silver or pocket full of old coins today! But that's all right...

Was a nice cool day around here. Mike and I started at some township property that used to (in the 1800's) hold a hotel and general store. Didn't have my hopes up as I figured the ground had been worked heavily. My conclusion is that this area was used as a dump after the hotel was gone....
I did locate what turns out to be a plaque of sorts which was on an early 1900's Edison Phonograph player. (So The Google says.) Also a chewed up broken crotal bell and a silver plated ring that kinda looks like a reins guide (but I don't think is). Filled the pouch with trash and we moved on.

I have a few farmers who have given me permission on their land. Waiting for the crops to come down on some with old home sites. One in particular I haven't tried before, and was surprised when I found the homesite still in a little patch of woods in the field (well, the foundation and basement are still there..). Hard swinging with all the weeds and such, but I'll definitely be back in the Spring when it's flattened out. Found a little clasp (Magic Clasp!) which people reference as a clip for a dental bib from around the turn of the century.

Some jars and such were around the foundation (too bad the cottage cheese bottle is broken :( ) Might have to dig a little more around there for glass too.

Included that Mason Jar milk glass insert because, of the many I've dug, that's the first one with that design I believe I've seen....

Looks like a beautiful day and the weather was perfect. Some great finds.

Man! I love that phonograph plaque! So cool how everything back then was a work of art! Great Hunting!~

Agreed....we used to make some cool stuff (that wasn't plastic, or so I'm told....)

I never cease to be amazed at the workmanship that went into literally every detail up until about 60-70 years ago - and since starting to metal detect it's only become even more apparent to me! Heck, even the dang dental bib clasp was a small masterpiece!

Awesome relics, Eotw! That phonograph plaque is beyond cool - nice ID and neat that you found a shot of the entire unit. I like the mason jar "milk glass" insert, too - I always save the ones I find that are intact. Unique design on that one - I haven't seen that one before, either. Nice digs, and definitely a site worth revisiting a few times
