Just checked Ginkoware's web site, i-Detect Software is Windows only.

Does anyone have any experience with this software, I'm a softy for trying new stuff like this but have gotten a little gun-shy since once my antivirus program went crazy when I started to download a free program not to long ago. Now I’m a little more cautious.

I've used it a bit. I have Avast Antivirus Pro and it didn't sound off at all when I downloaded it and ran it. I have a bunch of security software and nothing has got by me in quite a few years now.
Also, depending on what antivirus software you are using, you can get false negatives, or reports of malicious stuff that really isn't.
You can also use the C-Net link in the post above, they're usually good about not having malignant software on their site.
