Harbor Frieght Rock Tumbler 3lber

Got the gravel today. So I fill the tumbler half way with gravel and add a few drops of liquid detergent, then how many coins can I add?

You might not need that much gravel.
I use about 1/3 fill on mine, enough water to almost cover them and the rest of the weight in coins.
I never go over 2 3/4 lbs or belts could start breaking and maybe the motor could start to overheat.

I use one of those kitchen scales to weigh the whole thing.
If you have a lot...just do several batches.

Thanks. How long do you let it tumbler?

The first time, I checked it every 1/2 hour till I figured out how long I need to go for satisfaction.

1/2 hour I could read the dates on my usually very dirty coins.
1 hour they looked better.
2 hours...better still...and so on.
3 hours and most coins are about as good as they can get for me, or good enough...some guys tumble for up to 24 hours.
Your mileage may very.

Two tumbles per load at an hour a piece does well for my clad. They are free of dirt and most stains and are very spendable.
