I have found a shot coin before but never one that has been shot twice! It was found at the site of an old mill. I really wish I knew the history on why he/she shot it up. Maybe the first shot didn't dislodge it or maybe they were reusing them. Either way a neat find for me.

100 or so years ago men took pride in their ability to shoot. They would try to light strike anywhere matches with a 22 rifle. Also coins were a popular target. They enjoyed a little shooting competition. Back then everyone had firearms and knew how to use. them.

Poor little Merc didn't deserve that treatment.

Still, that's something you don't see every day, and has a cool story. I think I'd keep that as a good luck carry piece.

A while back I found a quarter in the woods (clad, unfortunately) that looked much the same.

We still do. When I was a kid we used to sharp shoot pennies with .22s.
