OK, button aficionados, I found an 4 hole, sunk center, button, stamped out of thin gauge brass sheet with the "Our Own Make" logo on the front (not a backmark!). I did some online searching myself and determined that these were around for WWI internment camps in Australia, someone found one on the beach in Britain, and somebody else apparently found one in a Union Army dig dating to the War to Prevent Southern Independence. My North American location could span all of that. Does anyone here know the history of these critters? I'd show a picture, but, although it is in pretty good condition, it is otherwise unremarkable, so I haven't imaged it yet. I also found a nondescript flat button not far away.
