Found this bullet today at an old house site. I've never seen one like this before. It appears to have an inner and outer casing. I know nothing about bullets so am just guessing. I don't have a caliper, so the measurement are just approximate using a tape ruler.

WT: 584 gn
1.125" long
0.5" OD
0.25 ID

If you know what kind of bullet this is and who it was used by, please let me know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's almost impossible most times to determine what a bullet is in that condition. Post a pic of the cavity. The tail of the bullet is always the best indicator.

Ok, then what shotgun shoots a slug half an inch wide? A 410? I really believe it is a rifle round and old. I just don't know which one.

Not going to argue with you, especially since you can't even take shell thickness into account with slug diameter.

But by all means, carry-on.

Found a couple of pictures to support my claim. Not the best, but there is very little evidence left of precise bullet molds from that time frame.
