Need helping IDing buttons

found three what i think are buttons, the circle one appears to have a "2" stamped on one side. the square one has "E" stamped on both sides. the other one as an anchor on it. what im wondering is for sure these are buttons? possible dates? and what they woudlve been on? esp the square one if that is a button? ty.

If you found the buttons near an area that had hem weights, then more than likely someone was doing some seamstress work in that area.

The buttons could be for military purposes or could very well be fashion buttons also. They seem very familiar to these buttons that are dated to the early 19th century.

Yeah i found the anchor button and the circle hem weight in the same area, it was actually an old dump behind a building, next to a park, its a road now, but thats pretty cool that buttom looks just like mine
 
Cool finds....I found one of these round hem weights last week but had no idea what it was until I saw this post...
 
After digging up this button I went online and found this button date identifier.

The original button with the anchor on it is a civilian fashion button. The iron back on the button tells you it is not military.
 
Hem weights are cool. They are also used inserted into the hems of curtains/draperies to weigh them down for looks (rather than billowing around), in addition to seamstresses using them.
