Not sure what this is but I found it at a home site built in 1750 in Virginia. The site supposedly has links to Gen Cornwallis and his men coming in very close proximity to burn a mill. I doubt its related to that but worth mentioning. Its embossed as seen by both sides. Somebody mentioned they believed it to be the goddess minerva. Some say horse rosette... ..it could be European or xxxxx.... I dont know. Looking for any help.

Thanks

I have tried a couple search terms on the internet. I have to think its pretty old like pre civil war old....but I have nothing to go on

Seems more like a man to me than a woman? Maybe I'm missing some detail.

I thought the same thing at first then someone mentioned "Minerva". Looking at some pictures of her I can see how it MIGHT be possible.....just need some possible search terms....

Some suggestions : roman warrior, trojan soldier, pendant, bridle rosette...see where those take you

Kinda looks spanish to me a bit as well. dont forget to look into that. edit i take that back does look more roman or greek

Top off a make up compact?

I'm thinking its something closer to this than a rosette - you can tell from the little 'ears' broken off that it did attach to another piece, but those are not sturdy enough to be a rosette and handle the wear and tear - the posts on a rosette are usually very stout and sturdy... Great item!
