I just received the 3300 that I snagged at Radio Shack last Sunday. I'm going to try tomorrow to get out to a park where there is usually some clad and begin getting a feel for it. I would appreciate any advice on this machine that might speed up the learning curve. Does the ground balance need constant adjustment?

I have had my 3300 for about 6 weeks and I find that the best way to use the ground balance is to set it according to the instructions in the book. Look at the knob and see where it is set, approx.  When it comes time to pinpoint you can adjust the ground balance while you pinpoint to get the best signal. After you dig the target just set the ground balance back to its original position, approx.   I also find that if I am getting a lot of falseing I can turn the ground balance knob a little bit counter clockwise  and it eliminates the falsing.  I would also suggest hunting in full discriminate mode until you get used to the detector.
                                 Good hunting,   Merf
