Came out about 1983. Very successful at the time but yours must be an old machine as they developed it into the 2000 and later the 3000 model.
Think it ran about 3.5 or 3.3khz which led to some difficulties, you had to retune quite often. (The Surfmaster Pulse replaced the range ten years later and used the higher 6khz and a faster pulse rate to get round the problem).
Ordinary batteries lasted less than twelve hours (six AA's) .
Weight 4.5lbs.
Target I.D. by vibrator and flashing LED. LED's also test batteries.
10.5 inch hard wired coil.
Waterproof to 200 feet.
Pretty good depth especially if you work really, really slow.
Drawbacks. Not as sensitive as modern P.I.'s especially on small engagement type rings and....are Whites still supplying the sealing rings ? They don't last for ever in salt water even if kept lubricated.
