Can anyone help me identify this button my son dug up today? It is metal and has 1865 stamped twice on the front, has 4 holes in the center. Nothing on the back. Is it really from 1865? Does it have a monetary value? Any info would be great. He's planning on doing a report to his class.

We usually think of those as fly buttons. I have found them with dates also.

ahhhh..possibly a fly button? guess there's little vintage value even if the button says 1865? No other marking on my button besides 1865 on front.
