Default Metallic Rock? What is it?

Found this rock at the beach about 7" down. I'm guessing it's been there a while considering how deep it was. There are no other rocks in the area that look like it so it came from somewhere else as well. I thought it was a meteorite at first but it's not magnetic and its very light for its size. I've found nothing but trash except for a .22 bullet casing the times i've been out so this got me a little excited! This rock is probably trash too... haha. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks.

EDITING prior answer, yeah you are right that it's probably not a meteorite:

I find lots of different size rocks like that in the water around port towns with an industrial past.
I think its some kind of slag that got dumped in the water years ago, it rings as foil or low mid tone on my AT Pro.

They are annoying when there are a lot of them.

I was thinking it may be some sort of slag but out here in Santa Barbara CA, I can't think of anything that would remotely produce anything close to this, not really an industrious part of the country. Probably not much worth then correct? What should I do with it?

Heck they could be slag that was held as ballast in old ships too.

I throw them out to deeper water.

bonfires can create a slag like rock, the mineralizatiion comes close enough it can make a detector go off. I see it all the time and I've seen lots of slag near roads from workers paving it.

If you break it open, look at the inside with a magnifier...do you see round bubbles? Small round holes with glassy looking lining...then it is a slag of some time...man made...put it back where ya found it and let the next MDer marvel over it!
