found this earing riding back from the beach where I've had not much luck lately. Big and Shiny I'm thinking maybe silver if I'm lucky. Pick it up and its light and it bends and folds. As Scuba would say Cwap. Get it home and I see Italy 14k on the closure. Now I've read here on the forum of counterfeit Italian gold so I acid tested it and the end caps and clasp wire hold at 14k. Why would you put gold on this type of costume stuff? thoughts ? thanks for looking Joe

Last year, they busted a seller at a local flea market for selling fake gold jewelry. The clasps were marked accurately, and were gold, but not the rest of the chain. We get a lot of things like that, here in Central Florida. Tourist won't find out, until they've returned home, and aren't likely to file a complaint. Some buy, to give as gifts, so the person that receives it, doesn't know if it was a ripoff, or just a cheap friend or family member, who they wouldn't offend. The seller has a very high probability of getting away with it, and switching locations makes it hard to track them down.

acid don't lie unless its brass or copper and that is gold! If you are in question, file the edge of it,,,,,GL HH
