My first scoop from Sunspot was the 920iX Hybrid. I was so impressed that I had to order a second, so the wife and I could hunt together. Just received the 720i Hybrid today from Chuck and Lyndia. Thought I'd throw up some comparison pics to help other people who were trying to decide which one to get.

Both of them weigh about the same.

The 920iX is a beast, in the sense that it's wider than the 720i but also much shallower. A pleasure to use especially with a 10" coil. Retrieving targets has been a breeze. It's hard to miss. In fact I haven't missed yet unless I had to dig deeper.

The 720i is narrower but much deeper. I can see where this will be beneficial when trying to retrieve deeper targets or operating in tighter spots. I am told that the 720i is a little stronger than the 920iX due to the narrower profile, but that's not an issue with the lifetime guarantee on all Sunspot scoops!

Prior to ordering the 720i, I was torn between getting another 920iX, but after receiving the 720i, I am glad I got it. I think the combination of the 920iX and 720i will give me the flexibility to choose based on the conditions I will be hunting in.

Great comparison pictures!

Yes, Should be in a section for chuck scoops! I got the 720 but wish I had got smaller holes. I love the fact it is deeper, and best for my hunting. Very much like my old scoop..14 inchs deep if I remember correct. One big difference I did notice is the 720 is better in shells and clay. Clay falls out very easy ... A big Plus.

Had I seen the difference in the depth of the scoop beforehand I would have gone with a 790.
No worries though my 990 is a beast that weighs damn near nothing!

Yeah I'm looking forward to trying it out this weekend.

i want one !!! one of these days im gonna find a used one on ebay... but i guess they are so good, no one ever gets rid of them :(

and why is it... like today... i went to home depot to get some stainless steel screws and lock nuts to mod my scoop... i walk out spending $40. ??? then get in the jeep and halfway home.. realize i bought all this stuff and forgot my washers ??? i really need to focus on what i was there for....grrrrr

Thanks, I don't think there will be much difference in effort though. With the 9 your just scooping a slightly wider area (shallower) and the 7 slightly narrower and deeper. I'll find out this weekend though :D

my opinion

Sunspot had issues with the 720 i - buckling in the middle , at 1st , to long, I believe Chuck solved the problem, never owned a 720 i out of 4 Stealth's as i couldn't see going from a 6 wide scoop to a 7 wide, it was the 8 wide i went to, i have a 920 ix also , but i like my 8 wide to, as the deck height is a little higher , i talked to Chuck about that inch that i miss on the 920 IX , but no changes were made , Chuck has made improvements to scoops over the years , like quick release goose neck's, which i haven't seen on other scoop manufacture's scoops , handle drain hole, which makes it easier to change a handle, more handle option's ect., as far as weight , yes there are some lighter, but the SS steel is not as good, and the finished product fall's short to Sunspot's, Chuck has the best warranty out their for now, over the year's Chuck has done me well, he all way's keep's you guessing on what he is going to come out with next, a good time to say :chaplin: thank's for making great scoop's, Earl

Earl yeah, I was talking to a gentleman at Sunspot (not Chuck) when I was contemplating just getting another 920. He told me that the 720 had been reinforced (I assume from the early problem you mentioned)...and as a result it made the 720 super strong.

Here is a closeup of reinforcements on the 720 and 920.

I'm jealous of all these stealth scoops that still have tips on them. Mine was just repaired but the tip is probably half gone in the 2yrs i've had it. I beat the ever living snot out of it and i'm a fat bastid so there's that....

I've been contemplating buying a 920 or a new 720. The fresh tip makes a HUGE difference.

I have the 720i hybrid and absolutely love it! It will do everything I need and more. I got the Ash handle but may "upgrade" to a CF.

Chucky

What's new in the line up for 2018, as the season approaches , been using the 920ix ,any changes to the deck height , 8 inch wide scoops new improved ? I for one thought you were retiring , but look's like your in the business for Life :lol: just like your scoops a warranted for life, since this was a May 2017 thread resurrected , everyone is wondering NOW, what's UP for 2018 :?:
