I have a Bounty Hunter Quickdraw II that I used casually for several years in AL. It worked just fine. I recently moved to Aiken County South Carolina where the soil is very sandy. It's nowhere near the ocean, though I think it used to be a zillion years ago. Since moving here the detector does not work well. It beeps seemingly randomly no matter the setting I have it on. It's not a particularly sophisticated machine, but I'm well acquainted with how to adjust it. Is the soil likely to be the problem, or is it more likely to be a broken detector?

Check your battery connections to make sure that they are clean/ Also make sure that it is a fresh battery. Other than that I haven't a clue
