These all came from the same place, a 100x100ft area. The area was on top of a hill near a small CA gold rush town. The same area produced about 20 levi buttons, a ton of small round tins, the usual forks, knives and spoons and other things that would indicate a possible home site, as well as an 1853 1 franc.

I was hoping someone had any info on any of these three items. The thing on the top that looks like the star ship enterprise appears to be some sort of a buckle but I could be wrong.

The thing that appears to have Geisha girls on it is clearly a button but I dont know much about buttons and am curious about it.

The third thing is quite strange. It would also appear to be a button. It has an iron back to it. The front might be lead but the design on it is interesting. It looks like to me there are two people in something trying to spear or wrangle either swans or emus. I don't even have the slightest idea on that one.

I've seen them called: Figural buttons, picture buttons and storybook buttons.

I would do a search with each term and see what each comes up with adding Japanese, Giesha or whatever else may be depicted.

The tend to be labeled as "Victorian Era"

The one with the swans reminds me of some of the "sportsmans buttons"... have also seen / dug some at sites in the sierras and over on this side of the same era.

Nope it's a storybook button.
