Old Maps and Topographic Map websites

Pretty much everyone here use them for the most part. There is a few others as well. Map reading and comparing is a must for anyone in this hobby that doesn't want to stick to just their backyard lol.

Hello all,

Over the last year or so the USGS has made very high quality scans of almost all of the topographic maps they have ever published. All of those scans are in the public domain you can download them for free. This is a great way to get very high quality old topos at no charge.

Start here: http://nationalmap.gov/historical/

If you click on something and they want money, then you simply clicked the wrong thing. Try again.

The most recent "historical" topos published by the USGS are available online in a seamless interface via the Gmap4 enhanced Google map viewer.
