historical landmarks are off limits?

Ive seen those on the road can I go and use my detector?
 
Here in New York the state historical sites are off limits. But if you can get the owner of the property then it is alright. We have a lot of historical homes and sites that are privet owned.
 
If you see this in your metal detecting adventure back away slowly. You might not get get taken by the frog men lol.

A good rule of thumb is that any property owned by a government agency of any size from township to Federal should be considered off limits without express permission.

Huh? Well I learned something today! I always thought those big signs with the "USNPS" on it meant, 'Use Shovels, No Problem Sonny'....And just did as I pleased! Besides detecting, The hunting was great! The trapping even better!:laughing::laughing:
 
Yeah,I got asked to leave Sonoma historical city square by a sheriff a few years ago,he said he could cite me for detecting on the grass.
Funny thing though. I could detect the sand under the playground there though.
