I decided to take the day off of work for my birthday, and hit my honey hole (1800s burn-down). The site has been worked over, time and time again, but I keep finding keepers! A couple of weeks ago, I found a like-new chisel and another room key fob (my second). Today, I found:
1. Two brass buckles, one definitely having gone through a fire, so it's very early 1900s or mid to late 1800s.
2. A U-shaped piece of brass which is an end cap to an old pocket knife (I've found 3 separate knives, in whole or part, at this site)
3. Brass/bronze button "FINE QUALITY" (?)
4. Brass circular plate that I think was an inner panel for a pocket watch (has a hinge tab)
5. A V NICKEL!!! 1903, and in very good shape, considering what our soil does to nickels.
6. Catholic charm/pendant with "ST. Francis of Assise P. F. U. [Pray For Us]" on one side, and "Holy Anthony P. F. U." on the other.
All in all, a pretty freaking good hunt, and it was really fun!
