I was walking in the woods behind my home where I’ve found 1940s token and coins and i came across this relic on the surface. It’s an old rusty rifle, just sitting there. The woods are secluded and noone goes back there, which makes me think there’s a slight chance it could have sat there for several decades, but i know nothing about guns. I’m hoping you war buffs, or anyone with some knowledge of this could help me out. Thank you, Jare

Underlever spring-piston air rifle.
No military rifle would have a stamped trigger. Sights are all wrong. Back end of the receiver is all wrong. And that arm under the barrel is to cock the piston.

Longhair is probably right. I don't know air guns well, but I know for a fact that that is not any service rifle ever in use in the US.

Little wood and oil and maybe you can get her working again! Maybe not, pretty cool find regardless. I’d love to find an M1 Garand or a 1911 some day!
