I found this (along with my first V Nickel!) today at the site of an early-mid 1800s toll gate. I have found many other items from this site dating back to 1773. I believe this item to be made of lead. It was about 8 inches down and jumping around between 46-51 on the Atpro. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Clean it up some and see if there's a threaded hole through the bottom of it. Could be some sort of handle.

The general concensus with friends and family is that it is a drawer pull. But it seems awfully small for this purpose. Also it appears that this may have been adhered onto something as there is some disfigured metal right at the base. Would old drawer pulls have been permanently attached to a drawer?

It could be the handle to a lid, like a sugarbowl lid or the top of a burial urn. Alternatively it could be part of a lamp finial.

Been a little while since I've used the AT Pro, but I don't remember lead ringing up that low on it?
