Had the day off so I headed to an old home site I've been meaning to get to. As soon as I assembled the detector I literally made a half swing and got a good 12 tid tone. Turned out to be a 1970 nickel. I thought to myself "this place must be loaded", but then spent the next hour and a half sifting through the standard old farm yard junk.
Eventually I worked my way to the back of the old property that had very few signals and found a bullet, then hit a strong 36 next to a tree at the bottom of a hill. It was a small coin that I hoped to be an old dime but cleaned up to be a 1923 s wheatie.
All in all a good day in the woods: overcast, slight drizzle, quiet and nobody else around.
