Had an excuse to get out to a friends house to fall some trees. Got a couple hours in detecting his yard and now i think hes hooked on metal detecting.
We got a walking half, 1 merc, 2 rosies, 4 wheaties and a ring, could be silver but im not sure. One of the wheaties was a 1924 and was the oldest coin. Really looking forward to hunt his yard again since time was minimal.

Well ... if your buddy was there as you pulled those silvers and saw how the natural shine just explodes in the daylight .... ya .. odds are good that he is interested . Things just aren't made like the old days .
She is a beutiful half ...

It is an easy check.

Place it on a square of aluminum foil. Spit on it (just saliva, no "goodies"). Wipe the spit all over the ring, and wrap the foil against the ring tightly. Let it set, wrapped up, for 30 seconds.

When you open it up, take a snif. If there's no odor, it's not silver, if it stinks to high heaven, then you have a winner.

Test it on the half-dollar, to know what you're smelling for. Best field test I know for silver.

I had a good day, finally getting used to the equinox 600, i cleaned up my yard today, im really liking the nox :D

I gave it a try and its not silver.
