Thought I found a salt shaker lid, but this thing has 2 sides. Found out it is used to keep bag tobacco moist. Not sure what is kept inside though? They are still sold so probably not very old. I thought it was a cool find.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there is foam or spongy material in it that absorbs water. Then it is put in a humidor to keep cigars, or I guess tobacco, moist as the water evaporates maintaining a higher level of humidity in the humidor. There is almost a science to keeping cigars fresh. I don't smoke cigars, but I made someone a humidor in my workshop. Did a lot of reading about them. Spanish cedar lining in the box to keep bugs out. Some humidors even come with a thing to measure the humidity in the box. Cigar smokers can be just as crazy as metal detectors. Lol
