The only reason other MD makers are not rising to the occasion and making some real competition for Minelab is that they don't have to. I bet they are making the same amount of money by charging 2012 prices for 1980's technology.

I actually held one this weekend. They look heavy, but in fact they are perfectly balanced. They used a LOT of carbon-fiber in the all the rods, so it is it swings like a dream. They also designed it so you have to use the back strap, which shifts all the weight to your upper arm.
