I found this and i can't make out the first letters. All I can read is AV-L-NEAT. Possibly TRAVEL NEAT. I have about decided it might be something to slip over a car window to hold a hanger for clothes. Any other ideas?

I think you are right on the Trav-L-Neat name. I wish I could offer more info though.

Pretty sure you nailed it - how you hung a suit or whatever before cars had hanger hooks. I've got one in cheesy plastic advertising a long-gone local hotel

Looking back through some pictures of some of my finds, I found this. At the time I didn't have any idea of what it was. I wonder if it wasn't used for the same thing. I don't have any other idea of what it might be.

That probably had a lead wheel weight attached to it at some point.. For balancing a car wheel...
