Nothing earth shattering here, but I was just happy to be getting my shovel in the ground in late December! The shoe buckle is one of the best I have found. No ID on the copper unfortunately. You can't read it in the photo but the inscription on that rectangular brass plate reads:

John Gale
Maker
South Hampton, NH

I found it in a field next to a 1700's farm house. It looks like it may have come off of some horse tack or farm equipment....I'm researching the name to see what I can come up with.

Happy New Year everyone!

Great finds and glad you got to spend some swing time so late in the year! That knife is in great shape, I have only found layers of thin metallic rust so far, I hope to find an original Barlow one day!

Love the shoe buckle!! Kent brand knives were cheap knives in their day, made for Woolworth's five and dime stores by Camillus of upstate N.Y. They were made approximately from 1931-1955.
