Found these two items at an 1870s home in Maryland. One is a fancy gold-gilt button, but I’m unsure of the other one. Looks like a broken, off-center shank. Not copper. Tombac? Slightly larger than a half dollar. Help!

I have dozens of those from my civ areas. Pretty common at least in my neck of the woods.
