Congrats on a great 1st hunt! I have noticed some of the same observations as you. I didn't care for the silent mode on my CZ which is one of the reasons I parted with it. I like the threshold hum of the Excal and my SS when I had it. For this reason, I run my sensitivity higher on Noxy and have learned the differences between chatter and targets. I may experiment going your route just to see though. Continued success getting back out there and stay away from MY beaches!

That's the way I run the AT Max in saltwater. I run it in all metal mode, and actually turn the threshold hum up so that it's a constant. It's much easier for the brain to figure out, for some reason.
Was really easy to tell targets from chatter, IMO.
