Threaded brass piece?

Found detecting a rocky creek bed. Seems like brass. It strikes me as some sort of electrical connection for wiring, but the end that projects past the threads reminds me of a temperature gauge sending unit. Cant find a match.

No idea but I know one of you recognize it already.

Looks familiar, but not. I'm thinking water shutoff valve stem. The screw on top held down the (probably round) handle. The 2 nodule/posts held the handle secured in position, for turning strength.
 
I cant find any water valve parts that match. I found this over a year ago but did not want to post it because I thought it was going to be too obvious. Guess I was wrong there.
