My mom had two very large pine trees cut down in her yard today. All the grass is torn up from the loader and large trucks brought in. I found these wings with a propeller in the center.

This is the third wing & prop find posted in the last few months.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prop_and_Wings

The wings look gold color with a silver color prop.
It matches the picture of "AAF Cadet Hat Badge " here:

They do have the WRONG Name "Army Air Force". The correct name which is actually seen on one of the pin is "Army Air Corp" which existed through WWII (my dad was in this) until 1947 when the Air Force was created as a separate branch.

Nice set of wings DJ! I have found 2 sets of wings, both sterling. They’re a really nice find because you know they belonged to someone in particular, which gives them a bit more meaning. Gonna have to start a “war chest” with military type items!

I would love to find a nice set of those. Congratulations!

Cliff

Congrats on the set of sterling wings, great find!

That's a really cool find, very high on my bucket list of stuff I'd love to find, Big Congrats!

Awesome dig! "Prop and wings" insignia. I understand they quit making these in sterling silver long ago. WWII or earlier? Anyone?

I know the feeling of finding one of them...congrats!

Sweet find. Congrats.

Beautiful set of wings. Still on my bucket list. Congrats on the great find.

WTG Jonny!! Did you find anything from when you or your brothers when you were kids?

Thank you all! This find is one of my favorites. Talking with my neighbor, she told me her husbands grandpa lived in the house my mom lives in now. Said he was a veteran of WW2. Im gonna talk to her husband and see if he knows anything.

Wouldn't that be a great coincidence if it was his.

Nice sleuthing work waltr !

What size are they? If about the size of a quarter then those are worn on the collar point of an Air Corps officer ..... half dollar size would be on an dress cap (the one with the brim). Come to think of it the flat cap could also have had the smaller size.

Half dollar size. Looks like it when on a hat

Great ... now the question is was there a local training base .... and if so how do you gain access to the area?! Could have been brought home and lost, as I suspect that emblem was removed and the officers emblem attached. Wartime shortages were a very real issue.
