KT has seen some Threads in the Forum about how to take close up images, particularly with a magnifier but no specifics were given. KT has an unusual magnifier, that can be set flat on the sample, coin, jewelry, etc and it produces around a 2X viewing image. The first pic displays a dime and the magnifier on a dime so you can see the magnification. Also note the light gathering characteristics of this magnifier and that under it the field is brighter than outside its boundaries. The first image was taken with overhead fluorescent units and you can see their reflections on the dome of the magnifier across the face of the coin. The second image was taken using the camera flash at an oblique angle, not straight above the magnifier, as the flash simply reflected off the dome and washed out the dime image. The oblique angle was better lit, had little reflection, and was suitable for enlarging..as the 3rd image. If you have this type of magnifier....its made to read with as it does a nice job of enlarging type face, you might try it sometime for this application.

KT thinks that if He could have removed the overhead lighting and just used oblique lighting it would have gotten rid of the reflection problem.
