I'm shopping for a loupe for coin grading. I would like to see things like date over date, double eared pennies, double strikes and such. I don't want one that is too powerful though. I'm finding 7x, 10x, 16x. What are you guys using?

I use a 10X eye loupe that I bought for $3.00 from Daniel Lopacki Co. This is a great company selling lapidary supplies and diamond tools. check them out; WWW.LOPACKI.COM

I went to a local jeweler and bought a jeweler's loop for about $10.00. Works great and the leather case protects the lens from all the dirt I pick up. :!:

I have a $10 Harris loupe I bought at my local coin dealer, it's 10x and I do well with it. Occasionally I need something more powerful, and so far I've just used my digital camera in those cases - it's really easy to enlarge photos to see the detail.
