Found at an old home site, but I've been unable to ID it. Is there a good online source for ID-ing buttons? Any ideas on this one? Thanks!

Love to find a way to clean it, but it's so fragile.. the green patina flakes off. Any sure fire methods out there?

When I found my 5th mass button, it's similar to yours, I had the same corrosion but I could see a bit of gold. I picked it with a tooth pick once it was dry. I started in the edges, exposed more gold and kept going. Areas I thought were toasted, came right out.

New Queston

So, I also found this one yesterday at the same site. The shank fell out while cleaning and I found this "lining" protecting the inside. Is this just a natural growth of fiber, or something intentionally inserted upon fabrication?? I've never seen this before, but then, I am a newby... :-)

Your better made buttons had white paper on the inside. The New York buttons are a good example of those with paper on the inside.

Cool button thanks for sharing. Does look like a promising site for sure. Good luck!
