Quite heavy,made of copper,where is split was attached at one point.
Aren't nose rings clamped on? I know hog nose rings are, so that it irritates them into rubbing their tusks down. I assume bull nose rings must be intended to make them ware their horns down?? (I know nothing about livestock).

At one time they made a bracelet similar to that, it was made of copper. Supposed to help with some ailments. That's my SWAG for the day.

What you found is not an Ox nose ring but is (part of) a Eggbutt/Barrel head bit ring from a horse. HH
