Found one today that has me stumped.

Dug this today at a site that goes back to the 1800s. It is 1 1/8" in diameter. The top part is brass and the "nail" is steel. It is heavy for it's size. As you can see the back is recessed. Any ideas what it was used for? Also found this clip in the same area. Very heavy and well made brass. Any ideas about it? Thanks. :yes:

Looks like a furniture glide, would be on the bottom of a chair leg to keep it from digging into the floor. Not sure but best guess.

I'd go with that!

The second item looks like some kind of a hanger that could hang of a belt.

Not an expert but the hook looks like a civil war era knapsack hook.

Thanks !! That's what I thought it might be, but haven't found enough of them to be sure. The area I found it in is certainly old enough. :yes:
