Picked up my hunting buddy MoBob yesterday and hit the site I found the 1/2 US buckle a couple weeks ago. We had a great hunt and found a good variety of relics. Bob found a nice US bit boss and a coin he's still working on -- think it's an early large cent. I found a cool old broach or pin of some type and another flat button. We also both found camp lead, round balls, and harmonica reeds. And a few what is its. First 3 pics are Bob's finds. Could the 3 prong brass piece be part of a sword guard? Next pics are my stuff. Thought I had another plate with the folded brass piece, but no markings and has 2 counter sunk holes diagonal at each corner. Not sure what it is. The funnel shaped piece is brass and has holes that spiral down the length of it. Any help on ID would be appreciated. HH and GL

Nice digs! Sounds like a great day.

The funnel piece looks familiar but not sure why.

Thanks Dsm. It was a fun hunt. The funnel piece is strange. Can't think of a CW use for it. May be farm machinery related as the site has been farmed for years. But I work in the farm equipment industry and I've never seen it before

Very nice buddy. Love the hobby fore sure. HH ALL

You got it buddy! Nothin better than searching for CW relics. Love everything about it -- the research, time out with buddies, excitement of the hunt and finds. And a great bunch here on the forum to share and learn with

Was able to get a date tonight on the large cent . It is cleaning up nicely in the olive oil soaking and working it with some tooth picks . Another couple days and I'll try and get a pic up. It is a 1831 England large cent and is showing some great details . Looking forward to getting back out this long weekend , and thanks guys for the comments . HH

Nice bit boss! My first and only was at ft donelson where the michigan cav ambushed forest... Hope to find another someday.... They're out there and we will find them one day! Good hunt guys!

Thanks guys , hopefully if were lucky we'll be able post something after a couple days of hunting this coming weekend . Anyway hopefully all of us relic hunters here have a chance to pull some goodies . Good luck to all

Here are some pics of the England one cent that Bob found. It's in great shape and definitely an oldie for our part of the world! Great find buddy!

Hey, Spectra1. You may be on to something there. Ive never heard of a candle lantern before. But if you rolled that up it would look a lot like what I found. I cant tell if it was originally funnel shaped, or just got that way after many years of being run over by a plow. Appreciate the help
