Detectors with true all metal mode

Sorry this is long but I hope it helps explain some of the differences between a true All Metal mode and a motion-based Discriminate mode.

My IQ just jumped a point.

Thank you Monte, for providing such a well written explanation.

I will be reading more of your past responses.
Look forward to your future posts and responses.

Even though most detectors list as having all metal. Most are discriminating out lots of metal. If you dig everything the detector gives a sound for, you will miss a lot of things. The detector hitting everything in the ground is wishful thinking.
If using an All Metal accept Discriminate mode setting, you should still hit on most ferrous and non-ferrous targets .... with a properly designed model.

However, if you are using a true, Threshold-based, All Metal non-Discrimination mode, you should hear all ferrous and non-ferrous targets in a detectable range with the ground signal balanced out.

Thus, you will get a signal on everything within a detectable range, and if you recover all those signals you're not going to miss anything. You'll be busy, but you won't miss anything.
