After work on Friday I met an old hunting buddy at one of the local beaches. The recent big surf had definitely moved enough sand to put some targets within reach but most of them were scattered a few yards from each other and many were "whisper" deep. It was a beautiful afternoon and we did not encounter any other pirates.

I took this picture with the cool waterproof sport camera that Crumble gave me for Christmas. It is perfect for me since I've ruined 2 cell phones in the last 2 years. Thanks again Crumble!
It was an enjoyable, relaxing type of hunt and enough targets to keep busy and halfway expect to dig up a nice keeper. However, nothing of great value on this hunt but a few interesting finds including a huge dummy round (from WWII training?), a unique pocket knife and a medical bracelet (do you guys try to return these?)

It's about the thrill of the chase. I am happy as long as I am digging targets. Of course I am after the yellow stuff, but I do enjoy the scenery and fresh air as well. I am getting withdrawals..I have been really busy and out of town and have not had a chance to test my 15" coil yet. I will get out there mid week!

No bother to return medical bracelets or necklaces I discovered. I found a sterling necklace. Company said they would like it back but would not return it to the owner. Sure they would love the silver! I scrapped it.

What is the date on the dummy round? Probably not WW2 as they were crimped like that well after the war as to what I have seen. It will still have a two digit date on it and the arsenal it was made at stamped on it.

Nice finds. Has to be more there.

Sounds like an awesome hunt. I love our SoCal beaches. Thanks for the pics!
Me too Beachhunter, even more so when I find gold and silver!

Tuesday sounds like a good combination of surf, tide and on-shore wind Nick. However, I would be toast if I tried to hunt on Christmas day!

Looks like a nice hunt!
Could have been better with some nice jewelry but still fun digging coins and less trash than I am used to.

A lot of digging and a nice hunt.
Thanks Dog, Used the Dual Field on this hunt. Some of the targets were deeper than the Equinox would be able to see. I'll bet that new Fisher Manta would have cleaned up in conditions like this.

Thanks for the info Scuba. Here is a close up of the back of the shell:

It is a hair over 3/4" in diameter. I find quite a bit of ammo at this beach so I always thought there was training here but it could just be from military personnel from local bases???

The .50 code...LC is for the Lake City ammo plant in Independence, Missouri, and the 60 means it was produced in 1960. Congrats on it, the clad and the rest of the finds...nice hunt!

Compass: Thanx for the report and the pictures. I like the beach pix shot, showing the slope that had resulted from recent sand movement.

That's a good days work! I seen those storm waves, the California water is deadly!

Hey George,

Nice amount of clad an other goodies. Congrats on a great hunt....with all those finds, gold must not have been too far away. PS....that beach kind of looks familiar;);)

George, that's alot of target's bro. , you must be in shape , nice hunt , Earl
Thanks Earl, I thought I was but I was hurting afterwards. Going to see the specialist soon about a bum knee.

Thanks for the info Captain! I wonder what it was doing on the beach? :?:

Thanks Tom, Now that I have a waterproof camera I'll try to take more action pictures.

Thanks OBN, At my beaches it's usually the rip tides that can be dangerous. The really big surf tends to be farther north.

Thanks Jeff, I even "painted" out the water tower...oops!
