I got this one tonight.

I was working the outside edges of a baseball field.
This place has been wild. Two big silvers and some interesting finds so far.

The Pro gave me a high 70's signal. It was about 6-7 inches deep.

The best looking flat button I've dug yet!! :D

It looks like a War Of 1812 Era Artillery Button.

The quarter was a surface find tonight.

That's a nice find in very nice condition. It was used between 1808 and 1821. Yours appears to be on page 55, item 52C of Albert's book.

Thank you for the recognition!

This whole season has been unusually good.

After I got home, all I had time to do was poke around a little online. This thing is a lot thicker than a regular flat button. I had feeling that it wasn't some kind of button off a modern suit coat.

The condition is pretty amazing, are you saying it's modern and not from 1812 era?

No. It looks for real.

Looks like B5523, "Federal artillery button, eagle over cannon, one part flat, Rich Quality London".

Go to Treasure Depot. Go to the Button book subsection. 1808 to 1821. Very very nice button. Congrats nice display item put it in a frame with a American artillery scene!. 🇺🇸

I found a war of 1812 hat pin last year.

That so cool.

This my first solid year of doing the 200 year old home sites. I've collected a few good looking flat buttons and old jewelry. Surprisingly this military button was found at the edge of a 1950's era baseball field.

Man, anything can be anywhere.

HH!

I have found one at a modern baseball field aswell. I can only assume it was worn during a veterans parade. And dropped when it was already an antique.
I found a second one which was a rare navy button from 1820 , made in England. That was at a civil war memorial park est.1880. There too I can only assume it was worn during a veterans ceremony and dropped when it was already an antique.
Nice find.
