6 yrs..at first was frustrated. .however with time an practice. I do not need to upgrade...it is a fine detector....just got tired of wired headphones...so for 20 $ I picked up a set Sylvania wireless headphones..a little tweeking an I can go through the thickest. Brush with no problems...Gold ,silver,coins,rings, an of course. Trash...I use all metal,an manual...ya'll have a great time...I am..
