Since I have the distinct MDing disadvantage of living in Minnesota I am trying to think out of the box when it comes to having fun with a metal detector.
MN and Wisconsin received very heavy glacial till, and the deposit patterns are a matter of geologic record. It does contain small but reliable amounts of gold, I think it would be a lot of fun to prospect this material.
Does anyone have experience prospecting glacial till in the Midwest U.S. or Canada?
I don't mind doing some modest panning either.
I am also looking for the right detector, no nugget is to small and I want to find it, but I will probably also never dig deeper than about 3 feet to get it. I'm just interested as a hobbyist. My price range is up to $500, but could be convinced to go a bit higher.
Any tips appreciated!!
