I was metal detecting the site of a 1870's to 1910's ghost town. Sometime after the town died out the site was used as cropland and then in the 1980's put into CRP

The first item appears to be solid brass barrel tap of some type.

The second item is iron and I thought at first might be off a harness or bridle but a friend of mine that is well versed in horse tack says not so.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would call that second item an "ornamental doorbell escutcheon plate"
Imagine it would be screwed to the house / door jamb and the button would be inside it.

That is an interesting idea! Hadn't thought about a 1900 Kansas farm house having a door bell. Might have been a mechanical door bell you twist the knob to ring the bell.

1st item resembles a barbed plumbing fitting.

2nd seems too heavy for a doorbell escutcheon. Looks more like a type of bearing retainer where a shaft ran through it.
