Our hobby: Always a learning curve? (England)

Great finds Doug - well done !

We find a lot of "Holed" 1800's coins here in the US.
Holes were often punched or drilled in coins so they could be put on a string or wire and worn under clothing to help prevent loss or theft.

Certainly more plausible buddy.

Lizzy coin love token.... Lots found in the U.K.

Great finds, and a wonderful history lesson, Doug, thank you!

I have found several coins like that. While I agree about the older ones, I have found modern coins with holes also (mostly pennies). Im wondering if those represent the wearers birth year.
