I was cleaning out the basement this weekend and found this jewelry set that belonged to my grandmother-in-law. The ring is clearly marked 14K. The pendant is also 14k, tested, but is unmarked. If I had stumbled upon it on its own, it would have been tossed as costume. Anyone know why they would mark one piece but not the other?

1. The 14k mark has been worn off the pendant

2. The manufacturers forgot to mark the pendant

3. The stamp is very small and you may've missed it

4. The pendant is only gold plated, hence why it showed up on your test kit. (though I think it'd be marked even if it's plated)

5. The mark is on there, somewhere, but you didn't see it

Just some ideas.

Is the bale missing on the pendant? If so the 14k mark might of been on the bale..

Hey that's pretty neat, it can be worn as a pendant or a pin...I would check the pin shank or the bale with a loop to see If there is a 14k mark..other then that i'm out of ideas. Nice finds by the way

Stamps

Many moons ago I made gold & silver items in my classroom.. I couldn't afford a karat stamp so I made things with no stamps. Just another possibility. Steve in so la
