Near an old tree I had a signal and dug it.... then the first coin showed up
....then another one....and another one... and I counted them no more.
There were over 30 coins in the hole
I just cleaned a couple of them ,they all are from the 1990's.
Apparently someone tried to perpetuate the old german DM Mark before
the Euro came into course :lol::cool:
Anyway, they wouldn't have last another 20 years because they are all iron
core
My first big "coin spill" - unfortunately not a single gold or silver coin among
them
Here the pics. HH Rammjäger

Big trees in parks hold kids treasure. They must have forget to make a map to be able to come back to. I have yet to find the old coins. The old big trees have long gone. Congrats.

Thanks.
I was just thinking ,this could also have been from a Geo-Cache treasure. An old
one- but I guess normally they hide things in pots or cases, not just left buried in the ground

Nice find, next time it might be silver !

I honestly don't know much about European coins.
I just wondered about your remark are most modern coins over there iron core?
Would that be like our US 1943 zinc plated steel pennies?

Thanks JWalker3.
I am cleaning them right now and see which is the oldest one. They are all iron core
indeed  The last one I cleaned was a 1960 coin.

Maybe it is not old or silver, but, it sure was fun finding a hand full of coins in one hole. When you get them cleaned up and count the value, post a picture. It is still a great find... KEN from Ind.

Hello Ken,
here I took a pic after cleaning them. The newest ist a 10 Pfennig from 1995,
the oldest is from 1960.
It was fun with the pinpointer for half an hour.I think I left at least one at the
spot.Because the Cibola still beeped there . Better so, for the next digger to
find them

One day, it will be gold or silver! Nice find!

Thanks for the good wishes!
I am considering to put all the coins in a glass bottle and hide them again
in the forest. This time they will be preserved for much longer time and
who knows -perhaps in 50 + years someone will find them again .I may
even add a note explaining these were once found by a detectorist ;)
