Default How many would be interested?

Hey fellow Detecorists!

I have a question, and I think this would be the best place to put this, but I just hope enough people actually come across it. I am thinking about starting another side project and putting together a FULL Metal Detecting Tester Kit! it will be packed full of goodies that I have manufacturing ties with, I was going through and putting myself together one and thought, I bet A LOT of people would LOVE to buy a kit like this. so Basically who all would be interested in one of these? if need be this post can be moved to where ever you seem fit. Also please say what you would realistically pay for this kit (I will list what will be included below)

1) FULL Precious Metals kit (10k, 14k, 18k and 22k acids, platinum/silver acids, and test stone)
2) Diamond Tester
3) Loupe
4) Digital 1000g Scale (Pocket or smaller sized)
5) USB Microscope (I use mine to take very clear coin date pictures, but the one I have can be used for LOTS of thinks, it hooks right up to your computer to look closely at all your finds, mines a 400x)
6) I will be designing and manufacturing a custom made Box / Carrying case for the WHOLE kit!

if there is anything else that should be/ could be added, let me know!

let me know feedback. Remember they are not available RIGHT NOW, but if I get the feedback I am hoping for, then they will be VERY soon!

HH,
-DetectThis

I suppose the first question should be:
How much would something like that cost?

DT: IF you can price it right with quality components (I have heard some gripes about some of the USB microscopes) I know I would be very curious!

No matter what it is, somebody will buy it...I would be interested if I found something that needed to be checked....most of my finds are either..clad coins...cans or pulltabs...rusted hunks of junk....it sounds like something them beach and park hunters could use...try putting together a few of them and see how it goes...good luck

Like everyone said -- pricepoint will be what makes or breaks it. I never even thought of buying a test kit, but if it was in a package then bring it on.

well considering i already have a scale & loupe the only thing that would spark my interest would be the precious metal test kit, the diamond tester would be a paper weight cause the bling i find never seems ta have decent stones

Ok cool, so it seems like this is going to be my next project. Let me finish up my kit and work some deals, The price is still in the air, because I want it to last a LONG time, but still be a reasonable price. I was talking with my dad and he suggested making a Starter Kit and a Deluxe Kit. one with still good quality (nothing I sell will fall apart, everything I sell I would use myself) but also a HIGH quality kit with the more pro type tools. I am thinking I can a couple of these put together within the next couple weeks and a price linked with it.

Also I see a lot of good comments about having a review. This is something I would 100% do. I think after I get a couple kits together I will run a Contest to give 2 of them out and having the 2 people write their reviews on the kit as a whole. I will keep everyone posted as I get closer to launch with this, and thank you all for the feedback.

P.S. I was talking with one of my contacts and they sell a VERY cool case that would work for this, but then she hit me with another case that gave me a GREAT idea, it was double sided, so I am thinking one side will have the full kit and the other side will have 2 slots. 1 for your propointer and 1 for you Lesche! but again I am in production phase, I will keep everyone updated!

I see some of that coming from china right now, its all down to price and unfortunatly the people who know quality are the ones who already own the sets.

I got the tester kit and a scale, lit loupe and testing stones and i think in all it cost me maybe $30-$35 for that.

A diamond tester would need to be checked, some say none of them work or the only ones to really work cost hundreds.

It might be good as part of an initial purchase where they dont own any of them rather then like the md'ers now who dont need packs from kelly and so when they are upgrading, who needs yet another scoop, pouch, bag, hat etc

the only thing I would get from china/overseas or something like that would be maybe the Loupe's and MAYBE the test kits (but I found a american company that would give a heck of a deal for me in bulk), but tbh most the time I usually still always buy America for my business, if i buy HUGE bulk on something the quality isnt a HUGE deal on, I may get em over seas, but for the most part I talk to a lot of my manufacturing friends and have things made by them, or someone they know. Coming from Detroit has it perks =]p like knowing about 10 good Machinists ehe. The USB Microscope I don't know much about, someone mentioned some of them aren't great, but I bought mine off ebay (probably a china made one i would think, i never looked) but mine works pretty darn well, and it has a stand to sit on that pretty good quality too, it works great for taking close ups of coins and other things i need to get in close to.

Also, as far as anyone can just go get the items and get them cheap and what not. well that's the fact with anything. some people just like the fact that can come to one place, do no research, get a good deal and get everything all at once. I am not going to do it to be a millionaire ehe, I am running a few side things (because I am disabled) to save up to open a local Hobby shop/Treasure Shop. I would not be charging a arm and a leg for the kit, just a small profit like any other company in America. and I would be offering them for the best prices here of course. eBay store will go for a bit more

anywhos, talk to everyone later! and ill keep everyone updates. I have some good Ideas for some stuff for this kit. and like I said, I will have a couple people do some reviews on them too!

1. Diamond Tester - have one that is cheapest/most reliable. Most ppl find too many diamonds to justify the price of an expensive one. Also offer a set that perhaps has the Presidium Diamond/Gem Tester. If you want I can help you contact them and perhaps work out some details - they are based in my country.

2. Loupe - 30x and illuminated would be good. Eyesight deteriorates as people get older and I think many would appreciate if there is a light.

3. Scale - I think 1000g might be too much... best if it weighs down to 0.01g and max of 500g.

4. USB Scope - no experience... but I've heard many complains about cheap ones.

This is a great idea... only problem is these are non-essentials. the whole set cannot exceed a pretty tight budget.

A kit that is tested, tried, and true at a reasonable markup is very interesting. My budget is low and I don't want to chance the bargain kits without some reasonably accurate feedback. Post the specifics and prices when you get them.
