Hi, I cleaned my newly found Liberty Nickel through electrolysis. It came pretty clean, but still could use a tiny bit more. Is it going to ruin my coin. The coin isnt in the greatest condition already but I dont want to fry it or make it worse, but for the little bit I did do to clean it through electrolysis, it came out better.

Does anyone have a list of the coins and the best way to clean each one?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE!!!!!

Here is what the Liberty Nickel looks like after being cleaned up from electrolysis. Do you think I should do it more or no...? It is def. a great improvment.

I tried the vinegar with a wheatie and it made it very dull and pourse. any reason as to why. I am just afraid of ruining my first great find. Thanks.

Use the search for posts and type in- I found a key date nickel-there are before and after pics of a nickel cleaned with vinegar and salt-a 1939-d, many times when a coin is cleaned the coin is pitted or damaged from whatever is on the surface. good luck and happy hunting. TONY AZ:cool:
