Last week Torpedo & I were detecting at a local tot-lot. We were getting a lot of coin signals (mostly pennies, but also a couple dimes & quarters).
After we were detecting only about 10 minutes, I got a good signal on my Harbor Freight 9-Function detector at the end of a slide. I dug about 3-4 inches down and then saw something shiny that popped out. After removing it from the dirt, I was delighted to have uncovered my 1st foreign coin!
It’s a 1961 Canadian nickel, minted during the years that they were not circular but a dodecagon (12 sided polygon) shape.
My total for the day was 9 pennies, 4 dimes, 7 quarters, & 1 Canadian nickel.
Minutes ago, I was looking at some of the rings & extremely old coins that others have been finding on FMDF, and although this is merely a “modern” coin, it’s still neat to me, and I’m thankful the Lord allowed me to find it!
Thank you for reading & happy hunting!
