I decided today that I want to try water hunting, both salt and fresh. I wonder if anyone would give me advice as to which underwater detector to purchase.

If you are going to do both you could go with the Excalibur800/1000 or the BeachHunterID there are other brands as well but I know these two are most often used... Another way to go would be to buy a ExplorerII and modify it to waterproof it, some use it and its killer.
